I sat there alone upon the Ferris wheel A pastel colored carriage in the air I thought you'd leave me dangling for a little while A silly twist upon a childish dare Below I saw you whispering to another man Who held the lever that could bring me down He'd stop the world from turning at your command It's always something cruel that laughter drowns And I'm up though the dawn is breaking Even my heart is aching I should be drinking a toast To absent friends Instead of these comedians I can hardly hear the music from the carousel The wind picks up, the carriage starts sway As one by one the lights go out It's closing time I see you take his hand and walk away Walk away They say you're always be the last to know They say that all that glitters is not gold It's not just that you're never coming back to me It's the bitter way that I was told And I'm up though the dawn is breaking Even my heart is aching I should be drinking a toast To absent friends Instead of these comedians

I remember you You're the one who made my dreams come true A few kisses ago I remember you You're the one who said I love you too Didn't 'ya know? I remember, too, a distant bell and stars that fell Like the rain out of the blue When my life is through And the angels ask me to recall the thrill of them all Then I will tell them I remember you I remember, too, a distant bell and stars that fell Like the rain out of the blue When my life is through And the angels ask me to recall the thrill of them all Then I will tell them I remember, tell them I remember Tell them I remember you

I loved you the first time I saw you But then our lives would change so very much Through all these years I never stopped thinking of you and wondering what could have been of us Like would I have been happy if I'd had you to grace my days and share my nights Or is the darkness that's always been with me an eternal truth of the night Oh, how I loved you and oh how I still love you You're the sweetest thing I ever did know Oh, how I needed you and oh how I'll always need you Though my need for you I never did make known Too many people I know content themselves with whatever harbor they drifted into But I could never cast my anchor until I found another love as sweet as you Love born of the innocence of youth may never again grace a wretch like me Like a flame that's burned the length of its candle Like a treasure that's been sunk into the sea Oh, how I loved you oh, how I still love you You're the sweetest thing I ever did know Oh, how I needed you and oh how I'll always need you though my need for you I was too shy to show Oh, how I loved you and oh how I'll always love you A love for you I never did make known Oh, how I need you Oh how I'll always need you My need for you just grows and grows and grows My need for you just grows and grows and grows I said my need for you just grows and grows and grows

about

lo-fi space casio country

a long-unfinished album, I've decided to just release what's finished so far instead of continuing to sit on it indefinitely. will add more tracks as they're ready.

credits

released February 10, 2024

I wrote In My Dreams I Held You and The Sweetest Thing I Ever Did Know.
The Comedians is by Elvis Costello (1984). My cover is of the Roy Orbison version.
I Remember You was written by Victor Schertzinger with lyrics by Johnny Mercer (1941). I fell in love with this song after seeing Slim Whitman perform it for the Andy Kaufman Midnight Special.

Special thanks to Benedikt Reynisson -- I performed the whole thing on his Casiotone keyboard.
